Using Moka5 with Multiple Displays   « Go Back

Supported display configurations

Moka5 supports running up to 2 monitors. If you are running a laptop, you can add a second monitor for a total of 2 displays.

Laptops

Configuration Graphics Card

Laptop only – no external monitor

Intel integrated, or
Nvidia/ATI discrete

Laptop connected to ONE external monitor

Intel integrated, or

Desktops

** Note: Both displays must be connected to the SAME graphics card.



How to extend the LivePC to the second display

  • Launch Moka5 Player
  • Start the LivePC
  • Connect the second display. (This can also be done before starting the LivePC.)
  • Confirm that the host OS is extended to the second display. (Not in duplicate/cloned display mode)
  • Confirm that the LivePC is on the primary display
    • For laptops, this is the laptop screen.
    • For desktops, this is the primary monitor.
  • The LivePC display mode must be in Full Screen mode. (not maximized Windowed mode)
  • From within the LivePC, right-click on the Moka5 icon in the system tray > Click Cycle Multiple Monitors. ***
  • The LivePC desktop will be extended to the second display.

Hint: Clicking Cycle Multiple Monitors again will toggle the display mode between:
  • Extend
  • Computer only


*** One Time Configuration - for Mac hosts
  • If this is your first time using Cycle Multiple Monitors on a Mac, you may receive a message about allowing Moka5 to control accessibility features.

or
  • Click the "Open System Preferences" button. This takes you to the Security & Privacy section within System Preferences.
  • If the lock on the bottom is closed, you will need to click on it to make changes. Enter your Mac system password when prompted.
  • Check both boxes for m5tray.sh and MokaFive Player. Then close the Security & Privacy screen. You should now be able to use the Cycle Multiple Monitors function.

Known issues and limitations

  • Cycle Multiple Monitors only works in Full Screen mode. (not in Windowed mode)
  • On Windows hosts, when using Full Screen Enforced mode (also known as kiosk mode), multiple monitors are not supported.
    • This mode is not supported by the VMware Player hypervisor.

  • Attempting to use more than 2 displays can lead to inconsistent performance and LivePC crashes.
