Problem:
A Layered LivePC image is experiencing very slow boot times when Sophos “On-Access Scanning” is enabled for the C: drive. Boot times can be excessive and approach 10 to 15 minutes.


Resolution:
A layered LivePC consists of 3 virtual disks (c, m, n) where the C drive is a read-only disk and all data/changes are actually written to the M and N drives. On Access scanning needs to be configured to exclude the C: drive. Once excluded, the boot times will return to normal.
