MokaFive Makes “Patch Tuesday” Feel Like a Friday

Next-generation upgrade process guarantees swift, successful deployment

REDWOOD CITY, Calif.—June 14, 2011—MokaFive™, known for its innovative desktop-management solutions, takes the pain out of Microsoft’s Mega Patch Tuesday. For organizations with traditional infrastructure, big patches mean big trouble. With MokaFive, it’s just another day at the office.
 
Earlier today, Microsoft released a monster-sized patch to repair a slew of Windows-related security vulnerabilities. This included 16 individual updates for Windows—nine of them critical. Using traditional update methods, this would normally require IT administrators to configure and test the patch on multiple system configurations before deploying. Every users’ machine would have to be running in order to apply the update. It would also require users to re-start their machines at least six times for the patch updates to apply.

In contrast, MokaFive’s product allows administrators to deploy all of the upgrades in one step. Administrators simply patch and test the golden virtual image and Mokafive automatically delivers a bit-for-bit copy of the golden image to every user's machine. Because MokaFive downloads the updates in the background, it is practically unnoticeable to the user. One refresh of the virtual machine installs all updates simultaneously.
