6 Themes from MobileCON 2013
Last week’s MobileCON touched on a number of different topics that are relevant in the industry today. Just check out the themes and topics section of the MobileCON website, it’s chock full of buzzwords like MDM, cloud, and BYOD. But what were people really talking during at MobileCON 2013? Here are some of the biggest topic themes, as told by social media:
- Wearable technology
Wearable tech, aka “wearables”, was a hot topic during MobileCON. Many of the individuals who spoke on a panel on wearable tech during MobileCON believe that wearable tech will become as much a part of everyday life as smartphones and mobile apps.“Innovation comes from working with people of multiple disciplines.” @TheoForbath #MobileCON #wearabletech

- Mobile payments
Both mobile payments and digital wallets were talked about topics on Twitter during MobileCON 2013 with many tweets being used to quote Jamba Juice CEO, James White during the keynote panel on mobile commerce.

- Mobile workforce With the proliferation of laptops, tablets and smartphones in the workplace today, it’s nearly impossible to discern between a mobile worker and someone commuting to and from their office. Maybe for that reason, the mobile workforce—and security risks that it can pose—continues to be a topic of conversation at events like MobileCON.

- BYOD
It should come as no surprise that BYOD was a hot topic during MobileCON. No matter the stance for or against BYOD, seems everyone has an opinion about the best way to manage BYOD within the enterprise.

Okay, so Dan Mead isn’t really an industry topic. However, his name was trending during MobileCON 2013. The present and CEO of wireless giant, Verizon joined Michael Abbott, CEO of Isis; Dan Schulman, American Express Group President of Enterprise Growth; and Jamba Juice President and CEO, James White for the highly talked about keynote panel on mobile commerce.
