The trend of students bringing their own devices to school, or BYOD in the classroom, is certainly nothing new. According to the 2012 ECAR Study of Undergraduate Students and Information Technology, 86 percent of college students own a laptop. 62 percent of undergrads own smartphones and 15 percent own tablets, according to the same survey.
